Are you ready for the May Mile? It's a new event for young runners under the age of 16, and we've got more information on our web site www.maymile.co.uk.
It's just a couple of weeks away - and there's only a few days left to benefit from reduced entry fees for pre-registration. But don't panic if you miss the deadline - you can enter on the day. Take a look at some more information about this fantastic event...MORE
Thanks to those that have entered so far, and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 16th May. If you don't have a young runner in the family, then please do come along and enjoy the May Fayre, a live band and much more while you show your support for the next generation of athletes.
Bromham mum Zoe Rucker is hoping the May Mile run for local children she is organising will be the start of something big.

She is setting up the event, for children 16 and under, in the playing field at St Nicholas Primary School in Bromham on Sunday May 16 when the first race will set off at 11am.
Mrs Rucker, from Chittoe, said: “This is the first of its kind and I hope it takes off as an idea.
“It will be raising money for the school, which is jolly nice, but there is a wider idea behind it – to encourage children to take more exercise and discover their running legs.”
Mrs Rucker, who has three children at the school, Abby, six, and four-year-old twins Josie and Nynka, is a runner herself. She said: “I do 10ks (ten-kilometre races) all the time and at one of them there was a mini fun run for children. My three did it. They loved it and were so pleased they got a medal at the end.”
So Mrs Rucker approached the school and local businesses and was delighted at the response she got.
As a result of sponsorship from Sainsbury’s in Melksham every child who takes part on May 16 will get a medal and there has also been support from Wiltshire Concrete, Interconics Ltd, Stiles the butchers, V&P and Bromham Growers.
Also on the day Sportzcoach will be organising a free timed assault course.
Entry for the race is £3 for pre-registration or £4 on the day. Families can participate for £10 pre-registered or £12 on the day. Pre-registration forms are available at www.maymile.co.uk Mrs Rucker said: “I have approached as many primary and secondary schools in Wiltshire as I can through headteachers, extra-curricular personnel and PE channels.
“We’re hoping for a busy day to inspire sporty 16s and under and to raise money for the school.”

The May Mile
St Nicholas School, Bromham, Wiltshire
Runners in this year’s Bromham Pudding Run at least had it dry when they set off on the 10k course around the village on Sunday morning.

Organisers had been round pumping out huge puddles, following torrential rain the night before, to give the 400 odd entrants a better chance of getting round in good time.
Judi McKendrick of the St Nicholas School PTA, who organise the run each year, said: “It was a little bit windy but you can’t have everything. It is December, after all.
“It was a great event and entry for it was full well before the race day. We have raised over £3,000 for school funds.”
The first runner home was John Bentley School student Simon Nott who finished in a time of 33 minutes 32 seconds. The first woman finisher was Holly Rush from Team Bath AC.
One late entrant was Andrew Craven from Bristol who ran the 10k dressed up as a Christmas pudding. He raised over £200 for the BBC’s Children In Need appeal.

ATHLETICS: A plethora of prizes and personal bests were the reward for the 28 Avon Valley Runners who braved the near freezing conditions to take part in this year’s Bromham 10k Christmas Pudding Run on Sunday.
