5.	AVOCA VISIT: It was decided that due to costs involved a shorter trip would be arranged. Friday 25th September – Tuesday 29th September.  Hatt’s 22 seat Coach  @ £1427.00 plus £30.00 per person for the ferry. 4 nights B&B @180 Euros with hosts in Avoca.  Evening meals? (22 on coach @ £64 + £30 ferry. BB 180 Euros) Driver to be accommodated. RH to query insurance. AB to contact members - £100.00 deposit with application. INGRANDES: J G to invite for June 2010. LACK: Open invitation to celebrations in September?

ACTION UPDATE: Cabinet: Many Thanks MAM who donated the cabinet and to AB who collected and delivered to the Social Centre.  The Social Centre has a new Landlord as from the 15.06.09, visit to be arranged to discuss twinning corner. Quiz Winners: Caroline Culley and Philip Brown. Profit £32.50. Thanks to RH for the questions. Suggestions for next year – anagrams and Bromham questions.
4.	TREASURER’S REPORT: Balance £1700.05 The Pudding afternoon was again a success with a profit of  £136.50for puddings and £37.00 from the raffle, with just the Social Centre hire to be paid for.  This as also supported by members of the Calne Twinning Association. Future events suggested: (Autumn) French Evening with cheese and wine. Carnival: French Champagne – walk about selling tickets. RH to inform Carnival Committee.	RH
5..	VISITS TO AVOCA AND INGRANDES: Ingrandes: Visit postponed for this year. Possible invite to Bromham next year to coincide with the Carnival – June 20th. Thurs-Tues. Avoca:  response received from Bernie Ivors, 12 for B&B possible for September (23rd-30th -3 days in Avoca then travelling on) would we want all in one place or spread about?  RH to find out about travelling etc. Numbers? PP to arrange for collection. ·        Quiz sheets-distributed. ·        Pudding Afternoon arrangements: list of contacts to make puddings discussed, plus plan of action on the day. Arriving at 1.15 to lay out the hall etc.  RH and LG to display signs on the A342. Adverts have been placed in the P/Mag, AB to advertise in the High Street. Posters have also been displayed. RH to provide table decorations. PP/DD to provide a raffle.

VISIT TO INGRANDES: It is with regret that a trip will not be arranged due to no flights available, increased costs and other commitments.  JB and possibly Ann Smith may be able to travel by rail.  JG to contact Gerrard. AVOCA: RH to try and make contact again suggesting a possible visit in September.
6.	CORRESPONDENCE: JB attended the Kennet Twinning Forum meeting and gave a report.

5..	INGRANDES: 7th – 12th May Visit Gifts: It is the 10th Anniversary of Ingrades Committee.  Therefore the wall hanging to be kept until joint 10th anniversary. Gift of prints to be given this visit. Travel Arrangements: flight from Southampton have now been cancelled.  Flights from other airports are too expensive, or to inappropriate airports meaning further travel arrangements. A coach for 39 from Barnes costs £3680, and Hatts for 35 costs £3500. PAUL BACON’S VISIT TO INGRANDES:

Mr Bacon and Family stayed in Ingrandes for 5 days and was made very welcome. Meetings with school Head Teachers took place to discuss future links.

CABARET EVENING REPORT: The Cabaret Evening was a success enjoyed by all making a profit of £330.02. Perhaps more profit could have been made if a few more tickets had been sold!

More advertising may be the answer – notify other twinning assoc? Display boards on the A342? Include School? A larger committee?

Fund raising for 2009 - Carnival Participation, perhaps not a stall but walk about with labelled £1.00 in a bucket, winner wins half of proceeds.

Or, £1.00 for assorted bottles (wine) in a basket, or one large bottle of spirit

( easier than collecting items and manning a stall) members can take turns to walk amongst the crowd.

INGRANDES SUR LOIRE, FRANCE

Bromham twinned with Ingrandes Sur Loire in June 2003, situated on the Loire River, a village very similar to Bromham in size and population. We have enjoyed several visits with links continuing to grow stronger between our schools and families. We even have a road named after Bromham! Our next visit to Ingrandes is in May for celebrations with visitors from Lack, Poland, who are also twinned with Ingrandes.

CHAIRMAN’S AGM REPORT DECEMBER 2008

This has been a quieter year for the Twinning Association, as we have not had any official visits to of from any of our twinned partners. Our links however remain as strong as ever and there have been several private visits to Ingrandes by Bromham people.

Our Parish Clerk and husband together with Len and Sue Goodridge met up with Paul Mortimer and his family whilst in Ingrandes in July. Our school Head Teacher Paul Bacon and teacher Sian Kilkenny with their families visited Ingrandes during the half term break in October to consolidate links between the schools. It is hoped there will also be further links between the football teams led by Pete Wallis and the PTA.

Links with Avoca are still proving difficult, but our new contact is Henry Alexander. Avoca no longer hold the Melody Fair, but we are still hoping to make a visit in 2009.

The Pudding Afternoon was held on May 11^th and now seems to be established as an annual event. Although successful we are putting some thought to how we can be more effective with advertising events.

The Cabaret Evening in October was a great success with a good attendance, but again we need to consider our ticket sales technique, as selling a further 20 tickets would have made all the difference.

As our Association has been given some wonderful gifts from our twinned partners, we are endeavouring to purchase a display case so that they can be on show for all to see in the Social Centre Lounge, in what could be called “The Twinning Corner”.

Next Year we are hoping to visit Ingrandes for 5 days in May, joining in celebrations with their other twinned partners from Lack in Poland as well. Members of The British Legion have also been invited to join us on this visit.

I would like to sincerely thank our committee for all their support and help this year; I greatly appreciate all that they do, with out them twinning just would not happen. May I also thank Bridget Luke who continues so excellently with French classes; also I would like to mention Mr Dennis Powney, who reports our events for us.

Thank you also to those people of Bromham for supporting us in fundraising events.
