CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME AND ADDRESS:

J Giles welcomed all present.  Thanked the Committee, it was with their help that we could look back over the last year with pride and satisfaction.  Also thanking Bridget Luke for running the French Classes and John Drew for producing the village video/DVD.  This was followed by an account of the past years visits and fundraising events, also providing accommodation and employment for a French student, all contributing to a very successful and productive year, with the twinning going from strength to strength.

AVOCA VISIT: Visitors to Avoca have been made welcome, but some disappointment over the lack of knowledge or evidence of twinning with Bromham, although Tony Kelly is still very supportive. DP is still in contact with B Ivors. It was the 100th Anniversary of the erection of the Thomas Moore Cross and would maybe an opportunity to link with Avoca.

The Melody Fair is to again take place in May in Avoca.

VISIT FROM INGRANDES 2007: It was suggested that the visit should coincide with the Flower Festival in September. Suggested events included: Salisbury Cathedral/Wilton/Stonehenge. Longleat. Stourhead.

Barn dance.  More free time to spend with hosts, with hosts sharing joining and sharing meals/outings?

FURURE TWINNING LINKS:

P Paget and D Dolman following an invitation from Polish delegates in Igrandes, visited Lack. A link with Lack (80 miles south of Walsaw) has been suggested, with the Mayor willing to visit Bromham.  The visit was very successful and welcoming, visiting schools and local industries.

Discussion for the future.

OPEN DISCUSSION:

Ingrandes has named a street after Bromham, it was suggested that perhaps parts Highfield could be re-named and numbered to include our twinning partners?

Travel to Ingrandes was discussed, it was agreed that flying took the least time and effort, but early booking was needed to take advantage of low fares, although the train and the ferry crossing were preferred by some!

Xmas cards – to be sent.
