The club is still thriving as we move out of winter and into more spring like weather. Our attendance numbers have been unusually high over the last few months and the atmosphere has reflected this with plenty of chat and laughter. Our routines remain much the same each week – coffee and biscuits on arrival, the welcome sight of Kevin at noon with another delicious meal, our half hour bingo at one thirty; but in addition we have enjoyed a return visit from Doreen Stroud with her comprehensive array of items for sale in aid of Bath RUH Cancer Unit. Doreen now comes in the morning which has proved to be a better idea as we can then use our two o’clock to three slot for other activity. One week this activity consisted of making our own entertainment. Following several readings of poems, we sang along to a cheery CD of old pub songs and everyone had a piece of makeshift percussion to shake, rattle, roll or bang. The sound was quite interesting!
It was a change therefore to welcome back Johnny Mack for some “proper” music shortly after, and he gave us a good variety covering several eras, continuing happily right through teatime until we all had to go home.
The Monday before Easter was the first week of the month so we were back round to exercises again – this time with another record breaking attendance of fourteen – but as this followed delicious home made Easter biscuits with our coffee, it was quite timely!
We now are in the time of year when a flurry of Bank Holidays upsets our rhythm, but following that we look forward to a nice warm summer with long days of sunshine pouring through windows and doors. Here’s hoping…..
If you’d like to join us on a Monday, do give me a ring, we’d love to see you. We can provide transport if you live in Bromham or Rowde.
