Bromham Tournament 2009

In the year the club received charter status from the F.A Bromham football club hailed their 2009 tournament a massive success.
Over two thousand people are estimated to have attended the event and with the weather gods being kind plenty of smiling faces were able to enjoy Bromham fc Jubilee Fields picturesque ground.


Friday evening was host to the u14s and u15 age groups. All the group stages were keenly contested but in the descending light FC Chippenham defeated Malmesbury A 3-1 in the u14 age group and Amesbury B beat Derry Hill Flames 1-0in the u15s.

Saturdays matches were between the u7,9,11and 13 age groups all of which were played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Marlow Youth emerged victorious in the u9 age group beating Melksham Town 3-0, after spending the weekend camping in Wiltshire for the event Marlow's manager was delighted to have won their first event after finishing runners up on nine previous occasions.Melksham A secured a 1-0 victory over Trowbridge Town thanks to a last gasp winner in the U11s.Melksham Town dominated the u13 age group and had both teams contesting the final. In a close final the Wasps defeated the Gunners 3-1 on penalties.

With the sun shining and the bacon sizzling Sunday saw the arrival of the u8s, 10s and 12s.Warminster Highbury Black defeated Westbury A 1-0 in the u10 age group and in a tense penalty shootout Castle Combe White beat Bishops Cannings 3-1 on penalties.

Bromham football club would like to thank all the villagers for their support and patience over the weekend and to the many helpers inside and out of the club without whom the tournament would not have been possible.

There has been year on year improvement with the organisation of the football tournament, with this being the most successful to date. The children all had fun playing football and eating sweets, whilst the adults could relax in the sunshine with a coffee. It all appeared to run seamlessly. Excellent event.
