VEGETABLE distributors Bromham Growers have come to the aid of shipwrecked mariners with a hefty £1,000 donation to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Company managing director Ray Cargill handed over the cheque to Frances Warren, south west area organiser for the RNLI, at the company’s headquarters at Barley Close Farm in Bromham last week.
Bromham Growers supplies retail packs of produce in the south west of England to Waitrose and Morrisons’ stores under the brand name From My Farm.
A penny from the sale of each retail pack was set aside as a charitable donation, amounting to £1,000.
Mr Cargill, a keen supporter of the RNLI, said: “It seemed appropriate to choose this particular charity, not least because the area we cover has a huge amount of coastline around it.”
