CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2009/2010
MAY 2009: A Bromham flag designed by Lilly Paget was ordered, as was a new seat for the Pound bought with the Calor prize money. Following a meeting with Richard Schofield from Staff Development UK it was decided to raise funds for village Defibrillators
JUNE: All the repairs highlighted in the Cemetery safety inspection were completed.
The PCC and the PC have each donated a defibrillator. The 3 adopted Kiosks were painted. It was agreed to remove the shrubs from the entrance of the Social Centre.
J Giles donated a silver cup for presentation at the Carnival. The Social Centre’s has a new Steward.
JULY: A new Allotment Tenancy Agreement for the small allotments was drawn up.
Thanks to Mr Collens who carried out repairs to the village notice boards. As its Trustees the PC adopted the accounts and produced an annual report for the Social Centre.
A request was granted to the Carnival Committee for the Jubilee Field entrance gate to be made wider.
SEPTEMBER: It was resolved to raise funds for 6 defibrillators @ approx £1700.00 each, a grant of £500 from Aster/Sarsens was applied for and granted.
A pedestrian was knocked by a car when walking along the A342 footpath. Due to the closure of the MWF factory Breach Close car park is not being used on a regular basis.
Wessex Water work at the Pound and Highfield resulted in road closures for 12 weeks.
OCTOBER: Due to the demand for small allotments it was agreed to provide 8 new plots at new Road. All identified repairs required from the Play Area Inspection were completed.
NOVEMBER: Donations of £950.00 agreed to local organisations and 69 cards and gifts for the Raby Fund (delivered by Mr D Powney and Councillors) Mr D Butler received £20.00 from the J G Davis Fund for the oldest Ex-serviceman.
New trees planted on the triangle in Yard Lane.
DECEMBER: Meeting with WC to discuss junction road signs on the A342.
The Royal Tree stone plaque was ordered from Windsmere Stone and Granite.
The defibrillator grant for £5000 from the Area Board was deferred.
Christmas tree erected thanks to PCC for use of electrics + J Drew, D Powney and N Paget. The PRECEPT was set at £32,000 the same as 2007/8 but £2000 more than last year. It was recommended that Mrs Brown carries a mobile phone when working around the Parish.
JANUARY 2010: A request for a memorial seat was granted to the family of Mr K Cowdrey, to be situated on the village car park. A section 96 Licence was applied for and granted for a seat in Church Hill. The Clerk received a salary increase as recommended by the NALC. It was agreed to remove the cardboard skip facility from the Social Centre due to costs incurred due to miss use.
FEBRUARY: Total donations and grants received for defibrillators are £2100 plus 2 machines. Repairs to the A342 pavement commenced. Work commenced to complete the road and lights at Breach Close.
MARCH: Due to demand another 8 allotment plots to be supplied at New Road.
A new PSCO Wendy Horstman for Bromham. The Royal tree Stone plaque erected.
APRIL: The Clerk attended a Health & Safety Risk Assessment Course.
The FBC flood lights on the Youth training pitch require planning application.
Repairs required preserve the Cemetery Extension gated. The road at St Edith’s Marsh is being resurfaced. Concern about the weeds growing through the new tarmac on the A342 pavement after less than 2 months. The Ivy on the cemetery wall to be removed.
Tuesday Afternoon Club disbanded and donated £70.00 to the DefIb. Fund.
The Crown Estate agreed to pay all fees for the purchase of land in New Road.
A new editor required for the Village Website (1-2 hours/week) Thanks to Bryan Avery who set up the website etc.
