Aggregate minerals site allocations - within Bromham

This is quite an important item that has an impact on Bromham, read on....

The Wiltshire and Swindon Aggregate Minerals Site Allocation Development Plan Document (DPD) provides detailed local expression to the Minerals Core Strategy in terms of formally identifying land for future aggregate mineral working and aggregate recycling facilities.

Consultation on Initial Site Options for Sand and Gravel Extraction

We are currently consulting on the initial site options for sand and gravel extraction. This consultation will end on 30 September, 2010, at 12pm.

None of the sites at this stage have planning status so it is important that we hear your views to help us to decide which sites should be dropped and which sites should be carried forward into the development plan. To view the consultation document and submit comments online, please click on the link below to our online consultation portal.

We have looked at the source document for this via the link:

and then clicking through to

Minerals Initial Site Options Report Consultation

This could have a massive affect on our village - Chittoe, and the residents of Bromham and all of the massive change to our way of life that goes with it.

Certain landowners have already been consulted as indicated on the maps, and are willing to let their land be used for a huge sandpit!!!!

How come this is the first we've heard of this?  WHAT are the Parish Council doing?  I cannot believe we want to let Chittoe Heath become a gigantic sandpit.  Put your comments on the site now, everyone, before the Council assume that we're happy to let it happen!

Thanks for bringing our attention to this proposal that could have an impact on residents of the village. It should be of interest to all. There is the opportunity to comment on the documents on-line, (as Mr Phillip Brown has already done so) until September 30th, 2010. So get writing if you feel the need.

All Bromham residents that care about the future development of this village for their children and grandchildren need to read the proposal documents on the WCC website immediately and consider what is being proposed.

The whole proposal for the Calne and without area covers extraction of 25,715,000.00 ( yes 25 million plus tonnes) of sand. Of which approx 18 million tonnes will come from The Bromham PCC area!!!! Thats means 18 million tonnes of sand out and 18 million tonnes of land fill waste in, over a 16 year period!!!! That's potentially 792,955 (44 ton) lorries on the roads around Bromham over the next 16 years. 49,560 per year or 953 per 5 day working week or 190 per day. Consider the dust alone!!!
Responses to document required by WCC by 30th Sept 2010.
I urge all residents to view and comment as they feel necessary.

No need to be gloomy guys, there's still a lot of positives to take.

I take it, amalgam, that you're being heavily ironic here.  Or are you like the man I encountered in the village shop the other day, who kept saying hopefully, 'Well, if it brings jobs ...'.  Yes, jobs for half a dozen specialist digger drivers, and all the growers out of work because no-one will want their veg any more!
