Monday Club News

Now Spring is springing again we are enjoying the sunshine pouring through the windows on a Monday, and the journeys to and fro are more pleasurable for drivers and passengers alike.  Our wonderful group of drivers continue to provide transport very regularly for those who need it, and turning out on winter days can’t be easy. All our volunteer helpers are extremely conscientious and we treasure them a great deal.

We had a delightful trip to the Eden Project one week when Pauline Hawkins brought her slides to show us.  Projected by Powerpoint onto the large screen in the main hall the photos and flowers shone out very clearly – you could almost smell them!  -  all viewed to a background of restful music. Pauline followed this with some very funny pictures of animals caught in unusual poses.

We have at last discovered another clothing company.  Tony and Jenny of Charlewood Clothing Company visited with a range suitable for both ladies and gentlemen – very similar in style to our previous supplier.  They also donate 10% of their takings back to the club, so this is a helpful service for those who can’t easily get to shops.

Our members are keeping up with the times by gradually getting more used to the Wiisport, and some very presentable tenpin bowling scores are being achieved.  Our monthly sitting exercise sessions are also well attended by a faithful group of members – usually about half of those attending.  We haven’t yet progressed to wearing lycra – but you never know!

On March 14th we had a visit from Colin Branston who accompanied himself on his guitar whilst singing lively songs in the Adge Cutler style. With a lot of chat and banter he got us all singing along to some lovely well known songs.  He peppered this with a few jokes,  and also told us about his project on a small farm near Tetbury which he is building up to help disadvantaged young people.

We still have room for more members if you could do with a bit of company each week.  If you would like to join us on a Monday at the Social Centre do give me a ring.  We can provide transport if you live in Bromham or Rowde.
