MONDAY CLUB NEWS
Just a short report this month as we are now into the time of year when Bank Holidays begin to interrupt our Mondays. As well as our usual whist and kurling afternoons, we have only had one speaker since last month’s Monday Club News was written. This was Jo Blake who came from the Dog’s Trust Rehoming Centre at Salisbury to tell us about the work carried on there. Using a power point presentation she showed us the living quarters that have been built for the stray and unwanted dogs who find their way there. As she said, it would be a nice place to go for a holiday herself! The dogs are made very comfortable and welcome – often for the first time in their lives, and the numbers that find a new home are amazingly high. The Dog’s Trust is the UK’s largest dog charity, caring for more than 16,000 dogs every year nationwide, and being a charity relies heavily on donations and fund raising.
This year we will be holding our annual Tea Party with Bring and Buy stall on August 13th at 2pm, in the Bromham Social Centre. We do hope very much that our friends and supporters will join us on that day for a chat and a cup of tea. I know it’s a long way ahead, but if it’s on the calendar you may remember!
Before then we will be meeting every week except Bank holidays, so why not come and join us – we’re very happy for you to dip your toe in the water, and then if the Club is not for you at least you’ve tried it – no hard feelings.
We still have room for more members if you could do with a bit of company each week. If you would like to come on a Monday at the Social Centre do give me a ring. We can provide transport if you live in Bromham or Rowde.
